Well Oppo, I've learned this morning that insurance operates on its own time frame, as despite it being a full !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I have to continue to wait until January for an adjuster to give me the final write-off status. So it's a Mazda rental Christmas.

In the mean time, I'm doing mostly VW research, so help me pick!

2010 Golf Comfortline - 66k km - $17.5k

2010 GTI - 67k km - $20.9k

2010 GTI - 96k km - $19.9k

I missed out on a nice Golf Sportline because of the insurance delay so I'm hoping it's available when I get serious

Mazda2? That was probably the best rental car I had in my round of Insurance Rental Car Roulette. Not too shabby.

Mr. Bad is correct, it's a 3. It's pretty boring in rental trim, but I think I would consider it in hatchback and upgraded form. It loses major points for the auto, not because I'm a manual snob, but it's so dimwitted and has such an emphasis on efficiency that it needs to drop 3 gears to get anything done.

Now that I have some time to look around, I might try out a 3 Sport.

Totally agree with your opinion of the auto. I had a similar car for a rental and it was so annoying to have to floor it just to get the engine to a decent RPM for accelerating.

Ah, even better. With you on the engine and transmission, though.
